Glasgow - A Must Visit Destination:

Glasgow, albeit a vibrant, cosmopolitan city has a sense of opulence and magnificence about it. Glorious grand buildings protrude from the pavements, surrounded by funky, fancy facades that house literally hundreds of restaurants, wine bars, clubs, cafes and boutique style shops, dotted throughout the city. Glasgow boasts art galleries, museums, parks and riverside entertainment complexes and offers something for absolutely everyone. Glasgow has been reborn and if you haven't already done so, you must, must, must make it your next stop city destination.

If you are coming for the Art and culture, then allow a little extra time - there is so much to see and do. Charles Rennie Mackintosh is one of the world's most famous architects and Glasgow and the surrounding district presents many fine examples of his work, from the beautiful 'House for an Art Lover' at Bellahouston Park, to 'Scotland School Street Museum', which is well worth a visit for a trip down memory lane to the good old days, before mortgages and working for a living! You can almost hear the ringing of the school bell and the shrill of the headmistress! There are nearly 20 museums managed by the city's Culture and Sport department. All offer free entry (some are closed on Mondays) and make for a fun, yet educational day out.

Pubs, Clubs and Restaurants

Seasoned clubbers and gig-goers will want to know the best places to party - there are too many to mention here, but famous names, that have often been the launch-pad for some equally famous names in the music industry include the Barrowlands, King Tuts, The Arches, 02 Academy, Sloans, Optimo, Sub Club and many more. A different audience (or sometimes the same audience, in a different frame of mind) can enjoy internationally renowned performances at the Scottish Ballet, Scottish Opera House, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (previously RSAMD). For those looking for something in between, the Kings Theatre, Citizens, Theatre Royal, Tramway and Glasgow Film Theatre all present big productions from flamboyant Panto to one-man plays - something for all to enjoy. Glasgow is famous for its restaurants - from Italian to Greek, Spanish to Lebonese, Japanese to Turkish.

Then there are the hidden gems to discover….Glasgow Art Club, Templeton Carpet Factory Building, the Necropolis, Barras Market, The Old Fruit Market, The Italian Centre….the list goes on and on. Read on and you will find yourself jumping on the next plane, train or automobile to find out for yourself, just how amazing this city really is.
